W.-Nr. 1.4153 ( DIN X80CrVMo13-2 ) is a hardenable Chromium steel with Molybdenum and Vanadium addition and
• excellent corrosion resistance, especially in salt water and media containing chloride ions
• good hardenability and high obtainable hardness after hardening (57 – 59 HRC)
• good wear resistance
• good machinability
• good polishability.
Cutting tools of all kinds, requiring higher corrosion resistance and a durable cutting edge, e.g. knives for the meat
processing industry, bowl cutter knifes. Cutting tools, knife blades, knife plates, etc. with high cutting hardness and
toughness. Also for wear resistant components.

C 0.79, Si 0.40, Mn 0.40, Cr 13.50, Mo 0.45, V 1.90
800 to 850 °C / Furnace Hardness after annealing: max. 260 HB.
approx. 650 °C After temperature equalization, soak for 1 to 2 hours in neutral atmosphere. Slow cooling in furnace
1000 to 1090 °C / Oil, holding time after temperature equalization: 15 to 30 minutes.
100 to 350°C. Tempering should immediately follow hardening. It’s recommended to temper at least twice.
Time in furnace: 1 hour / 20mm thickness of work piece but at least 2 hours.
