A version of Type 420 martensitic stainless steel containing nominally 0.5% carbon content providing a uniform, fine carbide structure. Can be considered for the manufacture of thin sections and fine blanking operations. 420HC alloy can achieve a tempered hardness capability of HRC 55.
This alloy is part of the martensitic grades family of alloys and is an excellent candidate for cutting instruments for fine edge components such as razor, cutlery, medical cutting and utility blade applications.
420HC alloy is subject to decarburization during thermal processing. Take precautions to control this condition.
We are specialised in stainless martensitic steels, products in forms of hot- and cold-rolled sheet, plate, strip, coil and bars.
