The AUS Series ( Japanese Stainless Steel )
The biggest improvement of the AUS series over the 400 Series is the addition of vanadium which improves wear
resistance and gives good toughness. It also reportedly makes the steel easier to sharpen.
Has .65% carbon, certain elements molybdenum and vanadium added, which is comparable to W.Nr. 1.4116 ( DIN X50CrMoV15 ).
Has .75% carbon. Cold Steel has made popular use of this steel.
This is tough steel, and holds an edge well.
Has 1.1% carbon. This steel is comparable to 440C.
